Swimming Success

A few pieces of swim news post-Easter!

Mathias and Mila Pickett competed at the 2024 Manchester International Swim Meet over the weekend. Whilst Mila swam well gaining a few PBs as one of the youngest competitors, Mathias made most of the finals in the Junior Category (under 17s) achieving Silver in the 400IM and 400m Free, and Bronze in the 200m and 100m Back.

Well done to Mathias and Mila!

Mila Pickett had also travelled to the Swim Ireland's National Aquatic Centre in Dublin in the last weekend of March to participate in two separate competitions.

She was only one of only two 12-year-olds selected to represent Ulster in the annual Schools Interprovincial Champs on Saturday. Competing in the 14 & under category, she came 6th in the 100m Butterfly and also swam both the Freestyle and Medley relays. It was a relatively close completion with Leinster winning and Ulster finishing 3rd.

The following day, she represented RHS at the Irish Minor Schools Championships. Competing in the 12-year-old category, she achieved a PB in the 100 Individual Medley touching just 0.23 seconds behind 2nd place to finish 3rd. In the 50m Fly, she won the Heats with a PB and then went on to better her time in the Finals, finishing 1st; her Gold and kudos of being the top Irish Butterflyer for her age continues having won the 11 year old title at last year’s event.
