Swimming Success

The Ulster Schools Swimming Association Key Stage 3 & 4 Swimming Championships were held at the Blair Mayne Health & Wellbeing Leisure Centre on Saturday 20th April.

In the Junior events Mila Pickett in Year 8 finished in joint 3rd place in the Girls 50m Butterfly and won a gold medal for finishing 1st in her year group. Mila also came 2nd in the 100m Individual Medley and was also awarded a gold medal for finishing 1st in her year group.

Rebecca Mitchell in Year 9 reached the finals of the Girls 50m Backstroke. Cadey Moore in Year 9 was awarded a bronze medal for finishing in 3rd place in her year group in the 100m Individual Medley.

Zach Coulter in Year 8 was awarded a bronze medal for finishing in 3rd place in his year group in the Boys 50m Freestyle, whilst Sam Milligan-Wright in Year 9 was awarded a gold medal for finishing in 1st place in his year group in the same race. Sam also gained a bronze medal for finishing in 3rd place in his year group in the 100m Individual Medley.

The Junior Girls Relay Team of Annie Bell, Mila Pickett, Rebecca Mitchell and Cadey Moore finished in 3rd place in the Medley Team Relay and 4th in the Freestyle Team Relay.

The Junior Boys Relay Team of Zach Coulter, Jamie Beggs, Sam Milligan-Wright and Joshua Wilson finished in 2nd place in the Medley Team Relay and 1st in the Freestyle Team Relay.

In the afternoon session it was time for the intermediate swimmers to compete.

Josh Bell in Year 11 finished in 5th place in the Boys 50m Butterfly. Mathias Pickett in Year 11 finished in 3rd place in both the Boys 50m Backstroke and the 100m Individual Medley.

Aaron Haire in Year 12 finished in 3rd place in the Boys 50m Breaststroke and 4th in the 100m Individual Medley.

The Intermediate Boys Relay Team of Justin Sugabo, Josh Bell, Mathias Pickett and Aaron Haire finished in 1st place in both the Medley Team Relay and the Freestyle Team Relay.
