GCSE

Our pupils study the AQA GCSE Physical Education (Full Course) specification.

GCSE Physical Education provides students with the knowledge and understanding of how to live a healthy and active lifestyle, enabling them to make informed choices about their own physical development. Students can choose from a variety of roles and activities in which to participate in physical activity.

Students will learn how to analyse and evaluate performance and suggest effective plans for improvement.

A Level

A-level Physical Education builds on students' experience from Key Stage 4 and GCSE to enhance their knowledge and increase their understanding of the factors that affect performance and participation in Physical Education. The qualification aims to equip students with skills and knowledge required for higher education or the world of work.

Our pupils have the choice to study either:

  • An A level in PE with the WJEC Board. This specification gives students the opportunity to experience and develop an interest in a variety of roles in sport, such as performer, official or coach.

Or

  • A BTEC National level 3 Diploma in sport. This specification is equivalent to achieving 2 A-level grades and gives students the opportunity to study a more vocational based course that is still accepted by the likes of UUJ and Queens University.
