Rugby 1st XV - No Coasting at the North Coast
Article by Adam Curry
On Wednesday the 23rd of September, Regent House 1st XV travelled the long stretch to Coleraine to play against Coleraine Academical Institution in what was hoped would be a very tight and entertaining match, it was exactly that.
Regent, without their coach Mr Lowry, were led by Mervyn Tweed who was (as always) very optimistic about our chances. With what can only be described as a terrible start, Regent went 7-0 down within 5 minutes. Soon after, they reached a 7-3 score line with a well taken penalty. As half-time closed in, the Regent boys secured a try in the corner and went into the break 10-7 to the good.
The second half sparked a change in Coleraine who came out of the blocks firing, eventually entertaining a 23-10 lead. However another well placed kick and 2 well taken tries (the latter being in the last play of the match) saw Regent come out victorious with a 27-23 score line over last year’s School’s Cup Semi Finalists.
