Emma and Rebecca - Swimming and Winning!

Over the weekend, Emma and Rebecca Reid both competed in the Irish Short Course Championships.

Emma was crowned the Irish Champion in the 100m Butterfly narrowly missing the Irish Junior record by .02 of a second.  In the 50m Butterfly event, a slip at the start compromised her first length and turn but she still managed to take the bronze whilst finishing in 4th place in the 200m event.

Rebecca also did extremely well considering her injury - just under three weeks ago she broke her knuckle.  She finished 6th in both the 100m and 200m Individual Medley,  4th in 400m Individual Medley,  2nd in the 200m Backstroke B Final and 4th in 200m Freestyle B Final.

Both girls swam in the ladies 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay team with four wins from four starts toppling UCD’s record by two tenths of a second finishing in 3:49.60.

Well done Emma and Rebecca!
