Personal Economics programme
On Monday 8 June, Year 11 Economics participated in the Personal Economics programme. This provides a practical introduction to personal finance, credit and debt, savings and investments and budgeting. It was led by Miss Davidson from Young Enterprise. It involved completing a life map helping pupils focus on future events and setting goals.
Miss Davis, a student from Stranmillis, gave a useful talk on the importance of preparation and experience regarding interviews. This included Aaron Addidle participating as a mock interviewer in a role play scenario. It also involved an activity on spending dilemmas where fictional characters’ finances were assessed.
Finally a credit and debit card game was played in which pupils were given a large sum of debt and a small sum of money. They had to take chances using disposable income to manage their debt.
