Community links art project
A Mother’s Earth Art group are working in collaboration with our school to invite local professional artists, parents and students to exhibit their artwork in the school from Monday 12th to Friday 16th October, 2015.
We will be hosting a number of creative workshops alongside displaying an exciting range of professional artists’ work.
This cultural art week will run alongside the international initiative The Big Draw.
We will invite local primary schools, our pupils and members of the local community to work together during focused workshops to create one large scale collaborative visual art piece.
With contributions from every visitor to the exhibition you can expect to see examples of expressive painting, creative drawing, innovative photography, flamboyant textile work, fine porcelain and textural ceramics. The open evening will allow members of the community to view and purchase original artwork while enjoying live music.
The impressive line up of exhibitors so far includes painter Sarah Lennon, photographer Anna Mathers, textile artist and tutor Jane Mathers, mixed media artist Jackie Torrens, ceramicist and tutor Roberta Campbell, painter and teacher Kerrie Bell, ceramicist Patricia Millar and many more.
Events throughout the week will include a range of themes and techniques such as
- ‘Tell me a story,’ Iphoneography workshop.
- ‘Subtle Surprise,’ using expressive painting exploration to create colourful and textural art,
- Use of literature and poetry in visual art
- Drawing techniques and mark making
- Drawing with thread and fabric
- Specialist artists talks on pitt firing techniques and ceramics
