Harry and Matthew at Regional UK Hockey Championships Festival

Congratulations to both Harry Crawford and Matthew McKibbin (Year 9) who recently took part in the UK Under 13 Boys Regional Festival of Hockey Championships. 

The tournament was hosted at Beeston Hockey Club in Nottingham and teams from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales all took part. 

The two boys were playing for Annadale Hockey Club and did exceptionally well, finishing 5th. This is quite an achievement considering the fact that Annadale were the only club side there and were competing against regional sides.

Special mention must also go to Matthew who, following his performance at the tournament, has been selected to represent the UK Lions. 

The UK Lions is an invitational touring side selected from the best players at the tournament and Matthew will travel to England for training sessions and matches throughout the next year, all leading up to a tournament in Sardinia.

 

This is a great achievement for Matthew as past UK Lions include current Great Britain internationals such as Sam Ward, Phil Roper, Harry Martin and Barry Middleton.
