Stephen and Matthew represent NI U14 Football in Netherlands

The Northern Ireland U14 football team recently competed in the prestigious Den Bosch International Tournament in the Netherlands.

Pictured here are Regent House Year 10 pupils Matthew McCann (L) and Stephen Kelly (R) who both played an important part in the team's success.

Matthew is a player at the Glentoran Youth Academy and Stephen plays for Linfield F.C.

It was Stephen who scored the winning goal in the final to round off an amazing experience that neither boy will forget.

During the initial group stages Northern Ireland defeated Djurgardens IF (Sweden) 6-1 Kolding IF (Denmark) 3-1 and VVV Venlo (Holland) 8-0

Having then qualified for the 2nd round of games in emphatic fashion, Northern Ireland then accounted for Silkeborg IF (Denmark) 2-0 and AGF Aarhus (Denmark) 3-0

On the back of 5 straight wins the team qualified for the final against a team with a famous European legacy; Club Brugge.

Brugge had defeated a much fancied Manchester United and were considered favourites going into the final, however Northern Ireland came away with a 2-1 victory and the title

We at Regent House are very proud of both Matthew and Stephen and we look forward to seeing both boys play for the school U16 team in the future
