70th Anniversary of the formation of the United Nations.
Four pupils from Regent House recently attended the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations. They gave presentations to representatives from the United Nations Association NI and the Mayor of Ards and North Down about International work they have been involved in. Mark Rea and Rory Jackson shared their experience working with Gap Medics in Tanzania. They raised money before the trip and were able to supply patients with medicine and vaccinations.
Rebekah McKeak and Zara Gabbey volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Poland and worked in a hospice for abused women. They helped to build a fence around the hospice, making the women feel safe and raised money to buy them garden furniture. All four pupils found the experience to be invaluable and they developed a wide range of skills such as working in a team, working independently away from home and improved communication skills.
