Regent House pupil honoured at Hillsborough Ceremony
Regent House Pupil, Cadet Flight Sergeant Chloe Tweed, was appointed to the role of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the County of Down. Chloe will be one of nine Lord Lieutenants’ Cadets selected across the Province, taking on a role which is largely ceremonial. She can expect a busy year ahead, attending Mr David Lindsay, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Down on major civic occasions. In recognition of the award, Chloe will wear a special insignia on her uniform throughout her year in office.
Chloe is pictured receiving congratulations and a certificate to mark her achievement from Mr Lindsay.
In the citation which accompanies the recognition, Chloe is recognised and applauded for a raft of cadet achievements, including winning both Wing and Regional Sports Personality of the Year in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Her sporting prowess is evidenced by selection to represent the ATC at Inter-Corps level in hockey and, at regional level, in netball and swimming. At Wing level she has also competed in cross country events and she has channelled her enthusiasm for sport into coaching, with considerable success.
Along the way Chloe has gained various qualifications in Heartstart; Activity First Aid and Method of Instruction as well as earning her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. Last year she was one of just two female cadets chosen to represent the Air Training Corps on an international exchange visit to the USA. She was honoured to be the wreath layer at Remembrance Day in Donaghadee and helped at the Battle of Britain Day as well as supporting the Wings Appeal.
In October 2015 Chloe was chosen as the Northern Ireland Wing Cadet of the Year.
The citation concludes, ‘Cadet Flight Sergeant Tweed’s personal standards are above reproach; her bearing and demeanour are a credit to her. She is a pleasant and articulate individual who is extremely popular with both the staff and the cadets of the Northern Ireland Wing. At all levels, Cadet Flight Sergeant Tweed is noted for her enthusiasm and ability.”
